Lights, Camera, Party Idea

This party idea fits my cheap, easy and rockin’ criteria to a tee.  Check this out.  You know those little glass rocks you can buy at the Dollar Tree?  Well, here is a party idea that transforms them from rocks to ROCKIN.’

Here are the supplies:

  • Wine glasses, bottles, glass vases/votives you already have on hand.  (I find the best effect comes from something with a rounded bottom like a wine glass.)
  • Wine glass

    Wine glass

  • Tiny led lights (these can be purchased in the wedding section at Walmart & Michaels in bags of 12 for $9-$12)
  • Buy these tiny leds in bags of 10 at Walmart in the Wedding section.

  • Bags of rocks-Dollar Tree

All I did for these party decorations is turn the little led’s on and plop them in the wine glass with the rocks of choice.  And looky…

And your finished.  Can that be any cheaper or easier?  I don’t think so.  And it definitely rocks.  You do need to make sure you are using these in a dark room.   The top picture was taken in my bathroom with the lights turned off and the wine glass placed in an open cabinet.  They really do give off a cool glow, I’m thinking red for a fiery Halloween party.  You could use them in a dim room, but the effect isn’t as awesome. Still cool though.   Great alternative to candles because, well, no fire.  And the leds last 14 hours, so you’re covered there.  If your party isn’t 14 hours long (ok, I don’t think I’m addressing Kid Rock in this blog, so I think we’re safe), you can shut them off and use them again!  Woohoo.
Totally Cheap, Totally custom, and Totally Rocks!
